Nigel Penlington is a consultant agricultural engineer to farmers and agricultural industries.  After working overseas and for a drainage contractor joined ADAS as a Farm Mechanisation Adviser before moving to the MLC and latterly AHDB.  His work is geared towards finding solutions and compliance with legislation for environmental pollution. This includes slurries, manures, odours and the impacts of ammonia. A starting point for sustainability and preventing pollution has to be operational and resource efficiency rather than focusing on regulation, often an efficient farm will be compliant. He continues to be involved in close partnership working with Defra, the EA, NFU and others.
