James has worked as a consultant for Gira since 2018 and is responsible for producing the UK report for the annual Gira Meat Club, providing a review and forecast of production, consumption and trade on the pork, poultry, beef and sheep sectors. In addition to the UK he also produces the EU Beef and Sheep reports.
James’ other work for Gira over the last year has involved profiling the strengths, weaknesses and core strategies of some of Europe’s leading meat companies as part of Gira’s European Meat Company Panorama 2020 and Further Processed Meat Study 2021. Primarily focusing on the pork and poultry sectors.
James has a practical background in UK farming and is actively involved with some large mixed farms in the South Downs in East Sussex giving him a balanced outlook on the UK agricultural sector and the challenges facing modern farming businesses.
